This 3-minute technique bridges the connection between your brain and your hands, bringing you into the present moment. It's also an excellent way to ignite your creativity.
Here's how to do it:
Preparation: You will need a prompt to focus on. For example, today's phrase: "Feeling good" Take a quiet minute to let this phrase settle in your mind.
Writing Time: For the next three minutes, write continuously without pausing about your thoughts around the prompt. The goal is not to judge your writing or overthink it. You can make a list, do word associations, or write whatever comes to mind regarding the prompt. If you find yourself stuck, just write, "I am stuck," and keep the pen moving until the time is up.
Reflection: After three minutes, take a moment to reflect. How did you feel during the exercise? Was it liberating, challenging, frustrating, or enlightening? Is there a thing you wrote that surprised you? Why do you think you had this response? You can choose to write about it for another 3 minutes if you have time, or come back to it when you have more time, also see below.
