I don't believe in coincidences, and when I received a resume from budding Caymanian fashion editor Ariana Bignal-Ebanks, on the very day I decided to advertise for an intern, it seems the stars aligned.
At our first meeting it was clear that not only is she not afraid to roll her sleeves up and get stuck into the sometimes unglam side of things (yes, it does happen), this is a girl who lives for fashion, and a girl after my heart. We bonded over the elegance of Elie Saab, the clean lines of Calvin Klein, and the edgy sexiness of Balmin, and so ladies, and gentlemen I welcomed the beautiful Ariana into Isy B. HQ. Introduced to the world of fashion as a young model (also incidentally she also walked the runway for Isy B.'s 2015 collection at Cayman Fashion Week).
Ariana developed a love and maintained a love for fashion, a challenging feat especially when you live in Cayman, far far away from the world's fashion capitals. She hopes to translate that love for every facet of the fashion industry; styling, editing, runway, magazine editorials, the works, into a career as fashion editor and/or creative director for one of the principal fashion magazines.
The smart cookie is off to college to study Fashion Merchandising this Fall, we look forward to seeing her one day at the top of her game at American Vogue, W, or Nylon.
In the meantime she'll be bringing her eye for creative, fashionable detail to Isy B.'s day-to-day and social media projects this summer.
In her words; " I believe in the arts and the emotions they evoke, the conversations they inspire and the people that create it. It's what makes life even more beautiful." Now doesn't that sound just like an Isy B. girl?!
