Earth Day Special: Giving Back to the Cayman Islands through the Isy B. Fund

When I started Isy B., I always hoped it could become more than just a fashion brand. Through my designs, I wanted to tell stories, to empower others, and to reflect the beauty and heritage of the Cayman Islands. Over the past 10 years, that vision has grown, and now I’m proud to share the next step in our journey: The Isy B. Fund.

This is a micro-grant program that provides up to $500 USD to grassroots organizations making a difference in the Cayman Islands through sustainability and community work. These are the kinds of projects here at Isy B. we truly believe in—led by everyday heroes who don’t often get the recognition or support they deserve.

From protecting mangroves to educating youth about biodiversity, these local initiatives are already creating real impact. I’ve seen how powerful small actions can make big changes in our amazing Cayman Islands community! But I also know how hard it can be to find resources to keep these activities going.

That’s why we created the Isy B. fund—to help bridge the gap, offer encouragement, and say, "We see you. We believe in what you're doing. And we're here to support you!"

Meet the Isy B. Fund Advisory Panel

The heart of this fund is our Advisory Panel—a group of dedicated people with deep ties to sustainability, philanthropy, and the Cayman community. Each member brings a unique perspective to the project and helps ensure that our grants go to organizations that are doing meaningful, impactful work.

Allow us to introduce you to our amazing panel:

The Isy B Fund

Isy Obi – Designer and Founder of Isy B.

As the creative force behind Isy B., I’ve always believed fashion can tell stories and spark change. My background as a storyteller and designer has led me to blend fashion with purpose. Launching the Isy B. Fund felt like a natural step—to give back to the Cayman Islands that have been an inspiration for all my designs and support projects that protect our community and environment.

The Isy B Fund

Astrid Kösters – Sustainability Communicator and Storyteller

Based in Amsterdam, Astrid works with scientists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to help them tell powerful stories about their social and environmental impact. She has worked with organizations like the Marine Stewardship Council and currently supports nature-focused projects via the Dinamo Fund. Her passion lies in grassroots initiatives that inspire big change.

The Isy B Fund

Cassandra (Cassie) MacDowell – Environmental Educator

Cassie is a young Caymanian with over six years of experience in environmental education and conservation. Born and raised in Cayman Brac, her childhood immersed in nature sparked a lifelong appreciation for local biodiversity. She currently serves as Education Programs Manager for the Mangrove Action Project, working with students and teachers to deepen their understanding of mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs.

The Isy B Fund

Craig Caffarelli– Philanthropist, Mentor, and Conservation Volunteer

Craig moved to Grand Cayman from Chicago and has since become an active community member. He volunteers for Blue Iguana Conservation and supports several other local charities. With a strong business and finance background, Craig has mentored small local businesses and serves on nonprofit boards in the U.S. He helped found GEM Realty Capital, a Chicago-based real estate firm, and now uses his expertise to support initiatives that matter to the Cayman Islands.

The Isy B Fund

Hailey Gale – Student, Sustainability Management

Hailey is a college student currently studying Sustainability Management in Milan, Italy. Born and raised in Cayman, she brings a fresh and youthful perspective to the panel. Her voice represents the next generation of sustainability leaders—hopeful, informed, and ready to act.
