Best Places to Stay in the Cayman Islands: Your Ultimate Guide by a Local (2024)

Excited about planning your trip to the Cayman Islands? Already dreaming of your island life; white sand beaches, and amazing restaurants, all set within the backdrop of your perfect place to stay in the Cayman Islands? Luckily, our beautiful Islands boast an array of amazing options that will more than exceed your highest expectations and heart desires, from indulgent luxury resorts to short-term vacation rentals.

We’re Cayman Islands locals, and we know the ins and outs of some of the island’s best places to stay. Come with us on a journey to our ultimate guide to the best places to stay in the Cayman Islands as suggested by the people who live, work, play, and love here, so you too can find your version of paradise while you’re here.

Luxury Resorts in the Cayman Islands

If you're coming for a luxury holiday experience, we recommend immersing yourself in lavish indulgence at one of the Cayman Islands’ most esteemed resorts. These are some of the Cayman Islands’ most luxurious retreats, so get ready to elevate your Caribbean experience to new heights:

Next Level Luxury

These come with a next-level splurge-worthy price tag, but quite honestly, if you have the budget, it’s worth considering the splurge.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

Location: Beachfront, Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: Elegant, those looking for the levels of service that the Ritz Carlton brand is famous for worldwide.

The stately Ritz Carlton building expands back from its prime location on Seven Mile Beach to a hole golf course and a tennis and pickleball center. The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman boasts luxurious accommodations with premium oceanfront views but also the slightly more affordable garden views. In addition, the hotel offers an array of upscale amenities including six restaurants (Blue by Eric Ripert, Andiamo, Saint June, Silver Palm Bar, Taikun, and Seven), the beautiful Silver Rain spa, and amazing options for kids including a play park and the award-winning Ambassadors of the Sea program. For those seeking greater privacy and more space, consider renting at the Residences.

Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa

Location: Beachfront, Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: Stylish, fun, and design-led but also kid-friendly.

The Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa offers a unique blend of contemporary design with Caymanian touches. The hotel features stylish rooms and suites with modern amenities. Its Mexican-inspired eatery Cocoloba is one of the few restaurants right on the sand on Seven Mile Beach and is superb. We also suggest a visit to the hotel’s spa, arguably one of the best on the island, for the ultimate pampering experience and afterward, explore the beautifully curated boutiques for well-deserved retail therapy. The cocktails in the library bar are also worth a mention.

Elevated Luxury

Not just your next-level luxury hotels, these accommodations offer a top-notch experience that will leave even the most discerning tourists speechless.

The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa

Location: Beachfront, Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: Beach-loving families and couples looking for an upmarket but laid-back vibe.

In our opinion, the Westin Grand Cayman has the most beach-y feel of all the luxury hotels in Cayman. The property may not be as extensive as the Ritz or the Seafire but all its amenities feel more centered around the beach life, giving it a more laidback vibe. It offers spacious rooms and suites with modern amenities and several dining options ranging from casual beachfront to more formal dining. The in-house Hibiscus spa is lovely and welcoming too.

Grand Cayman Marriott Resort

Location: Beachfront, Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: Culture lovers who are keen to get out and about and explore Cayman’s local scene.

The Marriott hotel has the least beachfront of all the luxury hotels on Seven Mile Beach due to beach erosion, but it makes up for this by being easily in the most walkable spot to many of Cayman’s iconic restaurants and bars including Peppers voted best on the Island for Caribbean food, live music hotspots, Camana Bay, the Harquail theatre, and the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. The Marriott rooms have undergone major renovations at the start of 2024 and the modern new rooms are gorgeous. The Marriott also has a fabulous spa attached to a splurge-worthy boutique that proudly features local makers and designers.

Boutique Hotels in the Cayman Islands

Looking for something a little different? Explore our pick of boutique hotels on the Islands for a more intimate Cayman experience:

Palm Heights Cayman

Location: Beachfront, Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: The Hip, stylish and urbane. The hotel’s trendy amenities draw a younger Instagram-savvy crowd but fewer families.

Celeb hotspot Palm Heights Cayman has been featured in countless style and fashion magazines worldwide. This luxury boutique hotel offers a sophisticated vintage vibe and an intimate beach-front setting unique on Seven Mile Beach. It serves up vintage cool very well too from its studio 54 style decor to its signature yellow striped umbrellas around a Hollywood-worthy palm-fringed pool. Other amenities of note are The Garden Club, its dedicated wellness center complete with ice plunge pools and international celebrity guest trainers. Paradise Pizza, one of its restaurants is a casual eatery, and now an island institution for an event called Mambo Italiano every Saturday night when the entire restaurant turns into a huge party with spontaneous group karaoke and dancing at tables between courses!

Palm Heights Cayman Palm Heights Cayman

Black Urchin

Location: Breakers, south side of Grand Cayman

Clientele: Great for groups and for those seeking an enhanced level of privacy and the price tag that goes with that.

Black Urchin by Luxury Cayman Villas considers itself a boutique resort, but in reality, its collection of some of the most luxurious accommodations on the islands offers a completely different experience from any boutique hotel. For a start, instead of standard hotel rooms, you and up to 22 of your guests can luxuriate in an over 6000 square feet designer beach home with every imaginable amenity, and some you never even knew you needed! While there's no restaurant on-site, your team of private concierges is on hand to ensure you'll never go hungry!

VIDA Cayman Islands

Location: West Bay

Clientele: Those seeking to combine the luxury of a boutique hotel with the peace and quiet of being away from a busy life. Global nomads.

Another new kid on the Cayman block in 2024, Vida is a new concept for Cayman, away from the (sometimes too much) beaten path, tucked in the coast beside a marine park and nature reserve in West Bay. Its in-house amenities more than makeup for its relative seclusion. The “metropolis” of Camana Bay is just 20 minutes away whenever you need a fix of city life, and it's a great place to hang out with like-minded souls, go for gentle bike rides, bliss out in a yoga class, or even experience the adrenaline rush of a kite surfing lesson.

Caribbean Club

Location: Seven Mile Beach

Clientele: Those seeking the comfort and convenience of serviced apartments in the middle of everything Seven Mile Beach has to offer.

The Caribbean Club offers a luxury aparthotel concept right on Seven Mile Beach. The apartments are luxurious with large, well-appointed rooms with magnificent views of the beach especially from the upper floors and the service is attentive. Also suitable for families or big groups. Downstairs, island-favorite restaurant Luca has an authentic Italian menu and an extensive wine list. Its bar is also a great Friday night hangout spot.

Botanica Cayman

Location: Peninsula Ave

Clientele: Couples looking for a tailored experience.

A relatively new addition to the Cayman scene, Botanica Grand Cayman offers a true boutique luxury feel with its cottages infused with family heritage and personalized customer service. They provide their guests with an authentic connection to traditional Cayman life. You can choose from a variety of tailored packages that will enhance your stay at the accommodation, including options like fresh good-morning grocery packages and picnic food baskets, or indulge in unique experiences such as an eucalyptus shower.

Southern Cross Club

Location: Little Cayman

Clientele: Divers, nature lovers and escape artists.

The most upscale hotel offering on the tiny island of Little Cayman, and an absolute gem of a place. Sitting pretty in pastel colors on the beach, it's an easy kayaking or swimming distance to explore the even smaller, and uninhabited, Owen Island. You can enjoy lazy days exploring the island by car or bike. Most people come (and return) to Little Cayman for its world-class diving and marine ecosystem, bird-watching, and getting away from the pressures of the daily grind, preferably in one of the hotel’s beach hammocks, sipping the juice of a fresh-cut coconut! The rooms, though not modern, are comfortable and retain all the peaceful charm of Little Cayman.

Little Cayman Beach Resort

Location: Little Cayman

Clientele: Travelers looking for underwater adventures.

Little Cayman Beach Resort is an intimate, even romantic, oasis offering bucket-list personalized services for an unforgettable underwater adventure in the pristine waters of Little Cayman.

Soleil D’Or Hotel

Location: Cayman Brac

Clientele: For those with romance in their soul and escape in their minds.

Soleil D’Or Hotel is a farm-to-table boutique hotel tucked into the cliffs, known locally as The Bluff, below its private farm where they'll hand-pick the vegetables for your lunch. You can tour the farm before lunch too to work up an appetite. Located on the pristine shores of Cayman Brac, this hidden gem offers a secluded retreat amidst the stunning natural beauty of the Caribbean. The mood is one of complete chill and relaxation and the staff are amazing at making you feel looked after. It’s not the most modern hotel aesthetics-wise but it is everything that is Caribbean elegant. Come here for a complete escape to your enchanted garden paradise. The restaurant is amazing but because they literally cook what they harvest, the menu might feel a little limited but do let that encourage you to try everything on it!

Ps. For even more privacy book their luxury apartments and suites separated from the main hotel and right on the beach.
