At Isy B., I love that the easy elegant Caribbean island vibe meets the hip edginess of the San Francisco fashion scene. With me based in the Cayman Islands almost 3000 miles away the Isy B. creative team who are based in San Francisco, we rely on using technology to its fullest extent to maximize our creative collaboration. However, I also love working on-site at the studio in SF. For me, it's a magical other-world where ideas collide and new ideas evolve, and anything is possible creatively. It reminds me of how I felt as a kid hanging out in my mother's fashion atelier.
The Isy B. production team also comprises some of the most skilled craftsmen and women in the industry. They've honed tailoring skills that have been all but lost to mass market production, and it's a joy to work among them and watch them at work. My recent working trip to the studio in San Francisco was as intensive as participating in an episode of Project Runway, and just as enjoyable to watch as we worked on the first collection for presentation at Cayman Fashion Week with April as our deadline.
